The Eagles Venture Group

Eagles introduction to portraiture 19/3/26

We gathered at Alpine, where David kindly set up lights and explained the principles of portraiture. We had enormous fun posing and photographing each other, and in between we had tea and cake. Another wonderful Eagles meeting!

Eagles visit to Hayling Island 25/2/26

We were very lucky with the weather. A surprise for a February meet up that we had expected rough seas and crashing waves. Five of us made the trip , even if road closures didn’t make it easy.

As usual we started with coffee and the sun shining on us.
There were many creative opportunities for us to attempt, even trying some ICM photography.
We had parents in the sand, waves, sea foam, beach huts and the happiest bunch of dogs having a wonderful time.

We stopped for lunch, still outside with the sun shinning on us, before heading off for yet more photographic captures.
Yet again another great trip.

Eagles Trip to the Wildlife photographer of the year event at the National History Museum 30/1/26

The 3 Eagles, plus 2 club members, had our January visit by coach to the National History Museum to view the exhibition.

However it was a day of so much more.
First stop was coffee in the beautiful cafe at the V&A museum just over the road. We also had a lovely wander around some of the artefacts on show. For me having not been up to the museums since my children were little I had forgotten how stunning the buildings were.

Refreshed we then went into the Natural History Museum for our booking time to view the show. I was blown away by the fantastic photography on show.
The children’s photos amazed us with the beauty and skills they showed, with each area just as entrancing.

100 photos chosen for the exhibition, out of thousands submitted , what a task, I will go back next year as I loved it.

We then went for a delicious lunch, and walked round admiring the wonderful exhibits.
We only had our phones with us so could just enjoy and take it all in, just time for tea and cake before setting off for home, well satisfied with our day.

The Eagles Venture Group is swinging!

We had our first outing on 26 October 2025. This was to Bushy Park where we had good weather and some great photo opportunities. Here is a small sample of our day.

Our next venture was to Godalming to photograph Christmas lights on the evening of 25 November 2025. We went early while shops were still open, which was just as well as many of them were shut and lights off by the end of our session. We then retired to the Jack Phillips for hot drinks. It was a most enjoyable outing.

On 10 December 2025 we met at Sue’s for a Still Life photoshoot. Sue set up some amazing props which gave us plenty of opportunity to experiment. After some fun photography we were treated to coffee and cakes, followed bye a discussion about next year’s programme. We plan to meet each month for photography (and tea and cake!) with different themes thought up by the eight of us.
