OUR FIRST AV COMPETITION

was on Tuesday 12 April.
Unfortunately the hall was double-booked, so we had to squash into the small room upstairs. In spite of this the evening went well, with Len Deeley judging the 15 sequences. Each club entered 5 AVs, with the competiton being between Alton Camera Club, Tanbridge Camera Club and ourselves. We managed to beat Alton by one point, and Tanbridge was 2 points behind Alton.

"Thank you for your splendid letter, it really made my day.
I enjoyed myself hugely yesterday, and I and all the other forum members would like to say how much we appreciate how welcome we were all made to feel. You've got an excellent club there, with a very interesting and entertaining group of members.
I hope to meet you all again one day.

Six club members went on the walk from the Silent Pool on Friday 8 July
. We successfully dodged the only really heavy shower by popping in to Shere church at the crucial moment. We had a very pleasant lunch in the White Horse then made our way back via the little church on the Albury estate.

Heather Angel
visited Grayshott on 8th June
 to give a presentation on
"Bringing Flora and Fauna into Focus". This was in conjunction with Grayshott Gardeners.

It was a most interesting evening. Heather gave us many hints and tips about photographing flowers, as well as showing some of her amazing pictures of China which included some rare glimpses of its wild fauna.

  The Summer outing
- a boat trip on Chichester harbour at 18:30 on 15 July -
was a great success
Photos

In spite of gales and rain 41 members went to Itchenor for our 18:30 boat ride in Chichester Harbour. Just in time the wind and rain cleared away, leaving a pleasant evening. The photo opportunities were few, but the trip was enjoyable.

The boat tour was followed by dinner at The Bluebell in Cocking. We had a special menu with a choice of 3 main courses and 3 desserts for £22.50 per person, excellent food and service, and I think every one really enjoyed the meal and the company.

The Gavin Hoey workshop on Saturday 17 April was a great success. Of course it was a glorious day (as it always is when we are indoors with the curtains drawn!), but we made the most of it by sitting ouside in the sun to eat our lunch. Gavin was very entertaining. He has a wonderful ability to explain Photoshop clearly and succinctly while holding everyone's attention. He took this photo of us as 4 separate portrait shots, then stitched it together in CS4.Thank you for a great day Gavin.
